Dr Longbod

The exhibition Empire of Dirt curated by Doris de Pont opened to a packed house at Objectspace on Friday night. 15 writers were invited to choose a ceramic object that they loved and write about it in whatever style they liked. That's pretty much the ideal kind of brief for a writer! The image above is the June Black ceramic 'Longbod' hanging alongside the text I wrote, which is an imagined interview with the Bod inspired by an absurdist experimental play called 'The Purple Umbrella' written by June Black in the 1960s.

The exhibition, which runs until 19 December, is definitely worth a visit. The accompanying publication (free to take away) is made up of the 15 individual texts on loose leaves that you gather up from a long table and place into a manilla sleeve.
