I don't like to waste odds and ends of fabric, so I made these little starched vessels out of silk scraps from a repurposed kimono. They'll be very cute with tiny foil wrapped Easter eggs in them.

Gosh they're a bit jolly lovely aren't they! Nice work mrs. Hey what's with a 5.21 am posting? are you pulling some more crazy late nights?
Hi Elizabeth, To make the vessels I mixed up a batch of starch - 1/4 cup of cornflour mixed with 1/2 cup cold water and stir in 4 cups of boiling water. I sprayed canola cooking spray on the bottom of a vase and a couple of ceramic pots and just brushed the starch over the fabric pieces and applied them over the greased molds like papier mache. When they are completely dry carefully slide them off the molds. No glue needed and they keep their shape although they're fairly fragile. Only natural and raw fibres seem to work though. Say hi to Caroline for me. Cheers Bronwyn
